826LA is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.
Our services are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention, and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success.
With this in mind, we provide drop-in tutoring, after-school workshops, in-schools tutoring, help for English language learners, and assistance with student publications.
All of our programs are challenging and enjoyable, and ultimately strengthen each student’s power to express ideas effectively, creatively, confidently, and in his or her individual voice.
Drop-In Tutoring
We still need tutors — please come in and sign up for a weekly slot. Drop-in tutoring is free one-on-one attention for students, ages 8-18, working on their homework or their first novel. Tutoring is available Monday through Thursday from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. 826LA is proud to provide this service to the students in our area, and we look forward to seeing you!

826LA West is located on Venice Blvd. in Venice, CA. We are one block west of Oakwood, between Lincoln and Abbott-Kinney. We are upstairs on the second floor of the SPARC Building (the old police station), and our entrance is on the right side of the building (facing the building from the street). We have ample free parking.

826LA East (along with the Echo Park Time Travel Mart) is on Sunset Blvd. in Echo Park, CA. We are a few blocks east of Alvarado, between Lemoyne and Logan, on the south side of the street.
